EMA Football Cup returns with a bang

With grassroots football slowly finding its footing in the country, the EMA Bulacan Highlanders FC are looking to use this momentum to bring all of the grassroots football clubs in the country closer with the revival of their annual tournament at the heart of Meycauayan, Bulacan.

After being hampered by the pandemic over the last three years, the EMA Football Cup makes its return and is hoping for a bigger and tougher competition this year. Since 2015, it has proven to be an electrifying showcase of grassroots football talents across four thrilling divisions.

From the young adults to the young at heart, the EMA Cup welcomes players from the U15, U21, and the senior division. This year's tournament will also see the debut of the women's open division which could become the tournament centerpiece after a very successful 2023 for the Philippine Women's National Football Team who, not only debuted in the FIFA Women's World Cup but also won a match in its debut, which inspired many of the young girls in the country that they can do it too.

"I am thrilled to be part of the EMA Football Cup, a pivotal event driving the Philippine Football Grassroots Movement. It's an exhilarating opportunity to celebrate our passion for the sport and champion its growth at the grassroots level," said by EMA Bulacan Highlanders FC team manager Kads Mejia.

The U15s and U21s will kick off the festivities on the 16th of December while the senior men's open and the women's open will wrap things up on the 17th of December. Mejia also promised that this year's competition will be bigger and more exciting as they'll be putting up a fan zone similar to the ones seen during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches of the Philippine Azkals as well as having live commentary during the games.

"It will be a day full of festivities for our participants and their supporters as we'll have live music, carnival football games, and many more," said Mejia about what makes this tournament worthy to be part of.

He also added, "The EMA Bulacan Highlanders FC are known to have a very strong social media presence so we'll make sure that every team will get the social media exposure they need to promote themselves and for their supporters to know how they did during this tournament."

As the date of the tournament comes closer, the EMA Bulacan Highlanders FC will be releasing updates on their social media platforms on how to join the tournament. The games will be held at the EMA Town Center football field where HFC has found a home since 2013.

Staying true to its promise of helping not only the club but also the grassroots football development in the country, the EMA Town Center opens its doors again for those who will be participating in the tournament, and with more shops and restaurants available, they will surely feel comfortable while waiting for their next match.

The Eat Sleep Breathe Football is also a proud media partner of the EMA Bulacan Highlanders FC and the 2023 EMA Football Cup and as media partners, we will bring you an extensive coverage of the match and will also provide you with highlights of the tournament.
