Shock Move: Gayoso To Kaya-Iloilo

Surprise, surprise! Kaya Iloilo Football Club has just reinforced their lineup with the addition of the young Jarvey Gayoso. In what appears to be a shock move, for the most of us at least,  it looks like he is set to join the ranks of Kaya courtesy of their Facebook Page.

Kaya had been looking to beef up their offensive department, and this might just be their answer.

Gayoso brings speed, youth and versatility to the team, and with an eye for goal as shown in his exploits with his UAAP club, Ateneo de Manila, and more recently with the Azkals Development Team. As the 2021 Philippines Football League season, brought to us by Qatar Airways, and the AFC Champions League playoffs grows ever so closer, Kaya will definitely want to bolster their ranks in preparation for their ACL bid, and hopefully a domestic success in the form of the league title.

It can be remembered that Kaya-Iloilo fell short in pursuit of this last season, lacking the cutting edge much to the dismay of the Kaya hopefuls.

Meanwhile in ADT, Gayoso have made headlines alongside his fellow young Azkals by scoring against league newcomers, Maharlika-Manila, and a well experienced Stallions-Laguna side.

With his undeniably good performance with the ADT, expectations are bound to be heavier now. Everyone is hoping that he will grow even further with his new club.

No move to Thailand?

It wasn't very long ago when Gayoso was said he was to ply his trade in Thailand. This is one of the reasons why the move was a bit unexpected. But since there's apparently been no signatures to paper done to date, it comes as no surprise that he'll want to keep playing at a high level. And Kaya should give him that kind of experience.

All this, together with Kaya's recent signings in Jhanjhan Melliza and Fitch Arboleda, and an upgrade to the coaching staff with the new gaffer in Graham Harvey, puts Kaya at a better position than it did when the last season started.

Given the right tactics, and by playing their cards right, they might just be able to step things up a bit and add more heat to the upcoming championship race.

That's for us to find out, so watch this space.

See you on the touchline!
