Azkals aim to delight fans in friendly against Afghanistan
Ahead of the friendly match between the Philippines and Afghanistan, both teams faced the media one after the other to talk about how they prepared for the match.
Coming off a 1-1 draw against Chinese-Taipei, the Azkals are looking forward to win before their home crowd tomorrow, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
"We want to win but not by words, we want to win the good performance," says Coach Michael Weiss.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan's Coach Abdullah Almutairi and his wards are looking forward to take advantage of the fact that the Philippines lacks team stability.
"Just like us, the Philippines are very unstable [in terms of coaching]. They have four or five coaching changes in over a year and a half."
Taking the helm for just over half a year, Almutairi believes that while he's still "new" to the team, he has quality players that can keep up with the kind of pace that the Azkals are going to play against them.
Headlining for the Azkals tomorrow will be Sebastian Rasmussen who last played in national colours during the Mitsubishi Electric Cup where he scored 3 goals.
"I'm very excited to play against Afghanistan before the home crowd. I'm happy that I did have minutes against Taiwan. Hopefully I could give so much more [for the Philippines] tomorrow," Rasmussen said.
Both teams are looking forward for the support of football fans as their match kicks off at 7pm.
