"The main goal is to get the three points at home."

This is what Coach Josef Ferre kept repeating as he faced the members of the media earlier today prior to playing their second match in the ongoing AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup.

Joined by skipper Stephan Schrock, Coach Ferre also talked about the kind of motivation that the players are giving each other since after the opening day setback against Cambodia. He mentioned that each member of the 22-man squad that he put together for the tournament are the best persons to motivate themselves as the competition continues.

"This is the first home game after the SEA Games, [and] we owe it to ourselves, and to the country to give a good performance," Schrock said.

Apart from wanting to give the fans a better performance, the Azkals are well aware of the fact that the Brunei squad imposes danger in long balls and counterattacks - something that they have already tried to work on during their training today.

Meanwhile, for the young Brunei team, Coach Mario Rivera believes that there is so much work that needs to be done in order to further develop the squad that he has been handling for three months now.

"We need to work a lot to develop football in the country. Getting to play in the AFF is a success in itself for Brunei football," Rivera said as he faces the media.

As young as they may be, the Brunei team is ready to give the Philippine squad a tough time as they take on each other tomorrow; the 23rd of December at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The Philippine side is looking forward that getting to play on their home turf will give them the advantage coming into the game. Coach Ferre and the rest of the Azkals are keen to give the fans a good result.

"The team will be stronger if we feel the support of the fans," says Ferre in parting.

The kick-off time of the match between the Philippines and Brunei is slated at 6 pm, local time.
