Manila, Philippines - Kaya FC-Iloilo had the honor of being the first Filipino club to ever host an AFC Champions League match.

As historic as it was, the outcome of the game did not turn out the way that Kaya wanted it as they bowed down to the visiting Shandong Taishan FC; 2-1.

The game was as unpredictable as the weather during the first half, where Quincy Kammeraad had to work in the early onset of the game to protect the goal on the Filipino side as the visiting team threatened to snatch a goal in.

Both squads managed to take chances to score, but neither attempt found the back of the net, resulting in a goalless draw at the end of the first half.

But the pace of the game quickly changed when Kaya gave up a penalty in favor of the visiting side, to which, Shandong's skipper, Moises Lima Magalhaes easily scored that give them the 1-0 advantage.

Taking advantage of the momentum and how Kaya's defense was falling apart, the Chinese side easily doubled the lead as Matheus Antonio Santos found the back of the net in the 71st minute.

However, it is not over until it's over for the home squad with Jarvey Gayoso outsmarting Shandong's Goalkeeper, Tong Lei, in scoring a goal for Kaya in the 79th minute of the game.

Just when Kaya was trying to pick themselves up and attempt to take the momentum on their side during the stoppage time, Cryzan placed the nail in the coffin and sealed off the game with Shandong taking the commanding 3-1 full-time score of the game.

Kaya's next assignment will be against Korea Republic's Incheon United which will be played on October 3 at the Sungui Arena Park in South Korea.
